DEANNA GIBSON
Problem Solver / Designer / Art Director / Design Educator
Deanna Gibson’s professional creative career has been based around the DFW area for over 20 years. She has been fortunate to have the opportunity to work with some of the best creative professionals in Dallas. Deanna is a recipient of both local and national design awards. Her work has been recognized in national and international publications and gallery exhibitions. Her passions are branding and typography. Currently, a full-time creative for Choctaw Nation's retail In-house design team working daily on new strategies for their retail  brands & launching new initiatives under the Choctaw Nation. 
Professional experience includes developing design and advertising solutions for both studios & agencies as well as personal freelance clients. Projects include nationally known corporations to start-ups and many charitable organizations. Her passion has always been branding & typography but over the years she has been involved in both large and small creative projects from packaging to advertising... you name it - she has probably worked on a similar project at some point.

She earned her Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree in Visual Communications from Texas A&M University-Commerce in 2015. While attending Grad school she began teaching in 2013 as adjunct faculty forTexas A&M University Commerce VisCom Dept and continues to adjunct for her alma mater. Other past teaching engagements as an educator includes serving as full-time Sr. Lecturer for the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) for 3 years from 2016 -19 in Visual Communication Dept. Teaching undergraduate VC courses in Advanced Typography, Sign & Symbol and Digital Media. She served as a Visiting Assistant Professor for University of North Texas (UNT) CommDesign from 2019 -2020 teaching Type, Ixd, Design Foundations and Portfolio Development. And also served as a Visiting Professor for Midwestern State University (MSU) Graphic Design undergraduate program in 2022 teaching Typography, Design Layout and Publication Design. And her love for teaching and design research continue in new endeavors to come.

As a dedicated life-long learner, she finds great satisfaction in mentoring young designers and helping them cultivate their skills. Her experience included writing & delivering lectures as well as course development at the university level. Her favorite subjects are problem solving using the creative process and typography. She prides herself on fostering fun and engaging classroom environments through project-based learning. These projects are designed to cultivate strong critical thinking skills and a keen eye for details, ultimately preparing students for portfolio success and a future as a creative proffesional.
